Ah man, I love an all-in-one kit for taking care of my snowboard edges. The Racewax Complete Edge Care Kit is just that, so I had no problem trying this one out. Moderately priced at about $75, I know I’m probably making a good investment, and I’m totally okay with that given this is my snowboard edge that we’re talking about here. A good edge can make all the difference in your day, especially on a firm groom.
Outta the box, you get quite a few items. The side and base edge bevel tool, metal file, a gummi stone, 3 diamond stones, and a metal file. Doesn’t get much easier than that.
The multi tool does an insane amount of angles, so unless you’re just way out there on the angle you want for your edge, I see no problem why this tool wouldn’t work for you. You can dial in an angle between 0 and 5 degrees, and the tool allows you to adjust in 0.5 degree increments. Use the metal file included with this tool for best results…those two things were just built to work together, and it seemed that when I switched metal files, I just wasn’t so comfortable.
Always make sure you’re prepping with the gummi stone. You’ll want to revisit that little guy as the final step as well, and of course, don’t forget about the ever so important detuning (wouldn’t want you catching a bad edge, and faceplanting into a kid or something).
The three diamond stones are completely easy to figure out. If you don’t read the instructions, you might not understand why they’re color coded, so don’t be that guy and just give things a quick read before you get to tuning. If you really REALLY don’t want to read, the black diamond is for your primary cutting, the blue helps you keep the sharpness of your edge, and the red diamond stone is a final stone for a fine polish and sharpening.
For taking care of your edges, the RaceWax Complete Edge Care Kit is actually COMPLETE. I’ve used this kit on 2 snowboards now and I’m more than happy with what it’s done.[button link=”http://amzn.to/1KChtlP”] Buy the RaceWax Edge Care Kit on Amazon[/button]
